Town vote on the amount of the Debt Exclusion for the purchase of 2 Main St. (Tues, February 8, 2011)
 
On January 11th, the town voted to approve the debt exclusion for the purchase and renovation of the 2 Main St. property. A final vote is necessary to determine the amount to be excluded. The amount to be excluded is set for $1.1 million, but this amount can be modified up or down at the town meeting. The vote is set for February 8th at 7:00 PM and will be held at the Wales Elementary School.
            ***On February 8th, the town voted against the purchase of 2 Main St. for $1.1 million by a vote of
            121 in favor, 119 opposed. A 2/3 majority was required. Next steps for the town are still in discussion.***
 
 

Town vote on the Debt Exclusion for the purchase of 2 Main St. (Tues, January 11, 2011)
 
The town vote will be held at the Wales Senior Center between 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM. A YES vote will approve the purchase of the properties through the use of a Debt Exclusion. Per state law, the amount cannot be stated in this article and must be voted on separately.
            ***On January 11th, the town voted to support the debt exclusion by a vote of 172 in favor, 162 opposed***
 
 

Open meeting on proposed purchase of 2 Main St. properties (Wed, January 5, 2011)
 
There will be an open meeting to discuss the purchase of the buildings at 2 Main St. on January 5, 2011. There will be a discussion of the pros and cons in the purchase as well as time for Q&A. Meeting will be held at the Wales Elementary School at 7:00 PM.

***At the January 5th meeting, the 2 Main St. Committee revised the original estimate from $1.1M to approximately $1.4M at the meeting and provided the below updates***
