LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Governor Patrick:  What has he done for us lately?  Back in late fall, an article appeared in a local newspaper indicating that $9,000,000,000 in stimulus money was going to be used to erect a bridge of convenience to gain access to Patriots' owner, Robert Kraft’s, retail development complex!  He has more money than most of us will ever see! This does not seem to be a wise use of stimulus money? Fortunately, this plan never came to fruition because of public outcry. This is a perfect example of the misuse of stimulus monies.  It could be argued that it would “create jobs”; but in my opinion, it was a special interest project. Shouldn’t we demand accountability from the Governor as to the exact amount of stimulus money we received; and what it has been spent on so far; and what’s left?

In his tenure as Governor, he took away our right to vote on a gay marriage law.  I believe Massachusetts voters should have had the right to vote on this.  In addition, when Governor Patrick took over, he started with a major surplus of money, and proceeded to put the state into a deficit situation; and we remain financially insecure.  Last year we endured cuts in aid to cities and towns; and news has it that it is going to happen again. HE GIVETH AND THEN HE TAKETH AWAY!! IS THAT BEING FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE? NOT HARDLY. Where has the approximate 23% of lottery revenues gone that is returned to the cities and towns in Massachusetts?

Next, did you realize that the succession law has been changed in this state at the whim of Democrats?  When Mitt Romney was governor and John Kerry was running for President, the Democratic legislature voted to change the law because they were afraid of the possibility that Mitt Romney would appoint a Republican Senator in his place if he were elected President.  Then when Ted Kennedy passed away, the Democratic legislature changed the law again so that Governor Patrick could appoint a Democrat in his place.  The law of succession simply defined is the ability of the Governor to appoint a replacement in this situation!  Talk about self-serving!!

On another note with respect to the upcoming congressional election in the 2nd district, why don’t we see Tom Wesley’s name in print?  He is a Republican candidate running against Congressman Richard Neal who has held the seat for 22 years; and before him another Democrat held that seat for 35 years.  It is time for a change. Mr. Wesley’s mission is to serve the residents of Massachusetts in a truthful, honest way.  He served his country in the U.S. Navy for 9 years; and does not take freedom for granted.  He values patriotism, education and community service.  He does not look at his appointment to Congress as a political move; but more an opportunity to serve the people of Massachusetts in every way that they deserve.

I am very pleased to receive the endorsement of the Wales Republican Town Committee for the Second Congressional District seat.  The committee is a vibrant and enthusiastic group of individuals who are frustrated by the status quo from Richard Neal and the Washington Democrat machine led by Nancy Pelosi.  They are anxious to have someone sympathetic to the needs of the district carry their message back to Washington.  This is our district and we are going to take it back!

I thank Chairman Michael Valanzola for his firm and decisive leadership of the Wales RTC.  This endorsement represents the growing momentum that our movement has sparked and I am thankful for their confidence in our message.
